Relationship building — we all know it’s the lifeblood of business success. With all the social networking going on, with all the fabulous phones and other gadgets that can keep us tied into everyone and everything 24/7, why is it that people just aren’t achieving the success that they desire? It all goes back to their virtual roundtables relationships and the quality of those relationships.
We all know that people want to do business with people they know, like and trust. And as an online business owner, it’s up to you to create that connection. Everything you do online and every way in which you communicate with your followers is either building up or tearing down your relationship with them.
What are the best ways to connect with others? Here are a few quick things you can do:
- Don’t be a secret. They say that no one can keep a secret. Well, when it comes to being known in the world of business that no longer works. If you’re not out there beating the drum about who you are and what you do, don’t plan on anyone else doing it for you. Go out and make your own success.
- Write a blog. Add a blog to your business mix if you don’t already have one. Through your posts, as well as your comments to others, people will get a sense about who you are, what you do and what you believe in. If you want to create an even closer connection, share some of your personal information as well. Often our personal side – our children, pets, hobbies, travels, and other interests are really what help connect us with others. Our shared sameness make us more real, approachable, and yes, likable!
- Be consistent. Someone who contacts you only when they want or need something isn’t really a friend. You really don’t have a solid connection. But someone who you connect with regularly, albeit through sending a newsletter, posting on a blog, or even sending an occasional letter or postcard through snail mail will create an entirely different relationship.
These are just a few of hundreds of different ways that you can connect with others. Take your time. Be authentic and invest in others and they will invest in you.
